It was the third-largest dome in Europe. Its architecture was inspired by the famous St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome. It was dedicated in 1783. Only 100 years later a devastating fire destroyed the dome. It collapsed; the entire interior of the church was destroyed. After it was rebuilt and some minor changes were made to its structure, the dome still remains one of the largest in Europe. It has a span of 36 metres. The interior of the church is impressively decorated with white marble.

In the Alfred Schladerer Hausbrennerei fruit schnapps are produced to the highest standards of digestif-making. Since 1844 the Schladerer family, now in its fifth generation, has been striving to produce perfect quality and the most intense flavours. They have also created a very unusual distillate from a rare type of wild plum which can only be found in the Black Forest. It is notable for its very aromatic, slightly bitter taste.
