Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

land of a thousand lakes

PDF

In the far north, between Berlin, Hamburg and Rostock, is one the loveliest yet also unspoiled regions in Allemagne: the Mecklenburg lake district. The "land of a thousand lakes” is an idyllic mosaic of landscapes made up of lakes both large and small, meadows in bloom, fields and forests. Boulevards lined with horse-chestnut and lime trees accompany your journey through the agrarian hilly landscape to small towns and romantic villages where you can still get a sense of the late Middle Ages.

I know a house by the lake... with over 400 wines in its cellar. Fish and crayfish come fresh from the lake. The mushrooms and game come from the region's forests and fields. Chef Raik Zeigner only uses seasonal products. His style is classical French. The establishment has been the proud bearer of one star from the Michelin Guide since 1996.
