    Mark and Gerry Irvine run this individual but sophisticated hotel which has belonged to the family since the late 1960's. Mark's father, Robert, originally bought the hotel in 1969 leaving his film production company behind. When Robert decided to sell the hotel in 1985, Mark and Gerry gave up careers in London to take on the challenge. Chris Firth Bernard joined them in 1986 as head chef and, as well as many other awards, won a Michelin Rosette in 1998 along with Scottish Chef of the Year.
